Informations

The second edition on the Roma Jiu Jitsu Challenge will take place on May 23, 2009.

The tournament will be supported by the “Centro Sportivo Educativo Nazionale” (The National Center for Sports and Education), the leading Italian institution for sports promotion recognized by the Olympic Committee.

Partners of the event are Rags Fightwear from Brazil, one of the top fightwear brands that has already sponsored top jiu jitsu fighters and tournaments like the Mundial, Academy Shop Roma, the leading martial art supllier for mma and bjj enthusiasts in Italy, and Camping Roma of Elite Club Vacanze Network that offers one of the best accomodations in fully equipped bungalows near downtown Roma and not far from the venue. When And Where

The venue of the event will be the “Centro Sportivo Aurelio San Giuseppe” located in Via Boccea 360. Fights will begin at 10:00 a.m. , and inscription procedures (payment of the inscription fee and delivery of medical certifications and signed waiver form) will take place between 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. on tournament day.

Rules and Regulations:

The athlete only can enter in the fighting area when is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is allowed in the fighting area.

Referees

All referees are going to be certified by IBJJF technical Director Alvaro Mansur, as having taken part of the rules and regulations seminar as sanctioned by the IBJJF. They will be of national and international experience in refereeing, and will be representative of all major teams.

Categories

The tournament is open to white blue and purple belt fighters, both male and female.

There will be only adult division.

Adult open class inscription for blue and purple belts is going to happen on tournament day.

No open class division for white belts.

Weight divisions

Weight divisions will comply with international IBJJF weight divisions:

Male weight divisions:

• Gallo -Fino a 57.5 kg
• Piuma - Fino a 64 kg
• Super Piuma - 70 kg
• Leggeri – Fino a 76 kg
• Medi - Fino a 82.3 kg
• Medio Massimi - Fino a 88.3 kg
• Massimi - Fino a 94.3 kg
• Super Massimi – fino a 100,5 kg
• Over – oltre i 100,5 kg

Female weight divisions:

• piuma fino a 53.5 kg
• pena fino a 58.5 kg
• leggeri fino a 64 kg
• medi fino a 69 kg
• medio massimi over 69 kg

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight, they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

Please note: in case of divisions with only one fighter enlisted, the fighter will have the choice of fighting in the higher weight division. However, in no cases the fighter will be will be fighting in a lower weight division in the above-mentioned case.

Fight time:

white belts: 5 minutes

blue belts: 6 minutes

purple belts: 7 minutes

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration at no charge, by sending a email to romajiujitsuchallenge@gmail.com with the subject 'ROMA CHALLENGE CORRECTION'. The deadline is May 17, 2009.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by our staff) please send an email to romajiujitsuchallenge@gmail.com (deadline may 20,2009)

After the registration check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification .

On Tournament day , between 8:00 and 9:45 a.m., all athletes will complete their inscription by delivering to our staff:

1. 30 euro inscription fee.

2. copy of medical certification that certifies the athlete as able to compete in combat sports.

3. waiver form that will e delivered for non Italian athletes on site.

All athletes will receive a t-shirt of the event at the moment of the completion of the inscription.

Medals will be awarded to all athletes that reach the podium. Absolute class winners will receive cups, and a special trophy will be awarded to the team that will gain the most points on the basis of IBJJF point system:

First placed athlete: 9 points

Second placed athlete: 3 points

Third placed athlete : 1 point.
